GOD’S WAY: RESTRUCTURING OUR THOUGHT-LIFE
Through Brokenness, You begin to restructure the inner life of the believer and the Character of Christ is manifested in him, as Your Word says, “knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance, and perseverance proven character, and proven character hope, and hope does not disappoint…”(Rom 5:3-5). As You become his delight(“Delight thyself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart”, Ps 37:4), You transform his desires, ripping out his and implanting yours, fashioning new dreams that line up more specifically with Your plan and purpose. Your Wisdom, the Indwelling Lord Jesus, produces creativity, innovation, the vision, the ability to “work smart”, the character qualities necessary, the on-going motivation, energy and good health to ultimately succeed. And concurrently on the outside, You, Father, are orchestrating and engineering circumstances and creating “divine appointments” that ultimately fulfill the truth of the statement, “Timing is everything!” You want us to consciously realize it’s You “willing and working for Your good pleasure” in, through and around us, not us doing it with Your help.
The believer’s ego is shifted by “earthquakes”, negative situations, trials and tribulations, from self-confidence and independence through brokenness to confidence in the living, indwelling Lord Jesus Christ and total dependence on You. Now, the Christian is truly living by faith, believing, “Faithful is He who calls you, who will also DO it” (1 Thess 5:24) “and being fully assured that what He had promised, He was able also to perform”(Rom 4:21), without our help, only our availability, as a branch abiding in a vine.
