Gary Ott received a Marketing Degree from Florida State University and began work as a self-employed entrepreneur. “I was saved at 9, then at 20, I surrendered my life to Christ and knew God was calling me to trust Him to achieve time and financial freedom in order to minister to others without pay.”
After college, he lived in the Republic of Panama for over a year marketing real estate in Florida for a land development company.
He banked all his commissions, invested it all in his first business, called Faith Enterprises, Inc. and moved from Tampa to Atlanta in 1976.
He sold his company 18 months later and went to seminary in Dallas, Texas to get a 4 year Masters in Theology with a major in Greek and a minor in Hebrew.
While in seminary he married Nancy and had his first child, Sarah.
He started his second business while in Seminary, Christian Brothers Lawn Care, with a vision to help seminary students double what they made elsewhere and ended up employing 38 fellow seminary students over the next 2 years.
He taught Bible studies and pastored a little country church outside Dallas, TX on weekends.
One year after graduation, he sold his house and business and moved to Littleton, CO to co-pastor a newly planted church called “Life In Christ Chapel”.
After 2 years, as a result of being approached by the founder of a national counseling organization, Gary turned the church of 85-100 members over to an associate and moved back to Atlanta in 1986 to get a Master’s in Counseling and work on a PHD in Psychology.
After spending all his savings while establishing the church, Gary started his 3rd business, a marketing company, that he still owns and operates today. Now 26 years in operation there are over 5000 independent salespeople in his organization.
At age 62, Gary has established a successful business that provides him the time freedom and financial freedom he set out to achieve “by Grace through Faith” 42 years ago and for many years has enjoyed the privilege of ministering to others without the need to get paid.
Gary's journey, as a hungry-hearted disciple of Jesus Christ, leads down the same road you are walking!
This great adventure we're on is the same in terms of following an invisible God; where we make our plans, but He directs our steps" (Prov.16:9),
where we delight ourselves in Him and He gives us the desires of our hearts (Ps 37:4),
where we learn to live "by grace through faith" rather than "by works through human effort"
and where the catalyst of suffering and "death" leads to the experience of Christ as our Life.
It's one life, but many unique lifestyles!
One attitude, but different behavior!
One heart, but an unending variety of experiences!
One vision, but many vocations!
